No one catches bad guys quite like Sydney Bristow. And now, she might be coming back to save the day once more!
Fans of the action-packed series Alias, starring Hollywood heavyweight Jennifer Garner, went into meltdown over the weekend when producers hinted at a revival during the ATX festival in Austin, Texas.
“It would be amazing to do it; we’ve even talked with J.J. [Abrams],” co-executive producer Josh Appelbaum told Entertainment Weekly and other publications during the panel.
“The right idea would have to come. We wouldn’t want to do it unless it was absolutely perfect.”
The espionage series ran for five seasons from 2001-2006 and had a string of notable stars including Victor Garber, Ron Rifkin, Bradley Cooper, Aussie Melissa George and even Quentin Tarantino. Jennifer also received a Golden Globe Award for her performance.
However, when Alias reached its fifth season, the actress fell pregnant and the show ended.
“Jennifer was a huge star,” executive producer Ken Olin remembers.
“She was now in her 30s and she really wanted a family. Jennifer, after five years, her contract was up and it was clear she needed this time to have her children and it seemed right. We had burned through so much story. It had a natural course.”
As for whether the actress would return to the show remains to be seen. But, we have hope!
After all, the series finale has already paved the way for a return. In the final episode (SPOILERS AHEAD!), Sydney and her colleague-turned-partner Michael Vaughn (Michael Vartan) are enjoying life outside of the CIA with their daughter Isabelle. In one scene, Isabelle exhibits similar abilities as her crime-fighting mother. It’s almost as if they planned for a reboot!
Either way, we’re hoping Jen will don that famous red wig once more and pack a punch for old time’s sake.
