The close-knit community of Inverness is left reeling when a body is discovered floating in a river in this week’s episode of A Place To Call Home.

The death appears to be suspicious, so a murder investigation is now likely.

There are plenty of people who have made enemies in Inverness. Was someone killed out of anger? Let’s take a look at who the victim might be…

George: Of everyone in the Bligh family, George (Brett Climo) is probably most at risk of being killed. Sir Richard (Mark Lee) has George exactly where he wants him. But if George is no longer any use to him… well, who knows what he might do? “What the hell do you think you’re up to?” Sir Richard howls at George this week. Is he angry enough to commit murder?

Sir Richard: The devil himself. Fans already know he aims to bring down the Bligh family. Problem is, he’s facing a whole family who want him gone. He raped Carolyn (Sara Wiseman), and then later tried to do the same to her daughter, Anna (Abby Earl). Regina (Jenni Baird) also has reason to want him dead. He’s been manipulating her into giving him information about the Blighs. But Regina is a dangerous woman who was released from an asylum only recently.

REGINA: Yes, Regina is clearly a target. The community hasn’t taken kindly to her return to town. She maintains she’s turned over a new leaf – and even seems to be helping the Blighs. But not everyone is convinced she has changed. Earlier this season, an angry Sarah (Marta Dusseldorp) threatened to shoot her. Is it possible Sarah had a deadly run-in with Regina?

Jack: In the local election, Jack (Craig Hall) is running as an independent candidate against George. But it’s a ruse to divert Sir Richard’s attention away from George renegotiating mortgages on Ash Park. George has discovered Sir Richard owns companies that hold mortgages on the Blighs’ home. As George works to save Ash Park, Jack campaigns. “Time to put a rocket up some Conservative backsides,” he tells people. But many folk don’t care for Jack much. Sir Richard, for one, declares war, warning it’s “gloves off”. Under immense pressure this week, we see Jack with a bottle in his hands. In his weakened state, he may have played into a killer’s hands.
