Ever since he and his family moved from Sydney to Weld, writer George Turner has been popular with the female residents of the small New Zealand seaside town.
At the end of season three of 800 Words, we saw Katie (Anna Julienne) asking him to come home with her after Woody (Rick Donald) and Tracey’s (Emma Leonard) wedding.
Then, Fiona (Michelle Langstone) asked him to have a baby with her – as a friend. What a dilemma!
“In this first episode, we discover how George responds to both propositions,” Erik Thomson, 51, who plays George, tells TV WEEK.
“He’s flattered, but in regards to Fiona’s question, he’s torn too.”
George’s son Arlo (Benson Jack Anthony) also has Cupid issues. He’s in a relationship with insecure Lindsay (Manon Blackman). But is he in denial about his true feelings for easygoing Poppy (Jessica Redmayne)?
Lindsay befriends Poppy – but this could be a double bluff to prevent her new bestie moving in on her boyfriend.
Elsewhere in Weld, Ngahuia (Miriama Smith) is conflicted about her feelings for Monty (Jonny Brugh). When is a hook-up something more?
“The journey for all the characters we’ve grown to love is interesting in this final season,” Erik says.
“Things come to a natural and satisfying end – but it’s not too neat, for George especially, either.
“Life is messy, and we’re going to see a realistic portrayal of just how messy relationships can be.”
Erik previously won the TV WEEK Logie Award for Best Actor in 2016, for his portrayal of leading man George.
When the series returns, we can’t wait to see how George’s life unfolds!
800 Words returns next week, with season four set to premiere on Channel Seven at 8:30pm on Tuesday 14th of August.
