The Block is back for another year and reno fans are beside themselves.
While the refurbishment show has traditionally been filmed in metropolitan centres in Sydney and Melbourne, this year things are a little different.
This year, The Block is being filmed in a new location.
(Image: Nine)This season, The Block has been filmed on a massive 60 acre property in Gisborne, Victoria. The quaint country town is known for its wineries.
Appearing on the Kyle and Jackie O Show, host Scott Cam spoke about the move.
“Well we bought 70 acres and then we gave the contestants 10 acres each. And we brought some old houses in,” he said, adding that they kept 20 acres as “common ground”.
“And then we brought the old houses in and built new pavilions out the back for them as well. So they ended up being massive five bedroom homes.”
The extra space came with many benefits for Scott who took the opportunity to bring his dog Frankie to set.

(Image: Nine)“I used to have a dog on television… that was 20 years ago [on Backyard Blitz]” he told 9Entertainment.
“(Frankie’s) a ripper, she’s very pretty and a beautiful dog.”
The Block host added that he’s “trained her pretty hard” to ensure her safety while filming.
“I like to train dogs for work and to be responsible, so they don’t get run over and stay with me,” he said.
“But, apart from the cameras, I just let her go [and do her thing]. She was running around, having fun – she loved it. She had a great day every day we were in the ute driving out there [across the site].”

Fellow host Shelley Craft also shared her thoughts on the new location on Jordy Lucas’ It’s All Her podcast.
“I think it’s really timely… That tree change idea, having had lockdowns for two years and I know the last few series we made a really conscious effort for the houses to be COVID-ready I suppose; home offices, retreats, wellness areas, breakout spaces,” she said.
“This year to go that next level of ‘Well if I can work from home or do a few days in the city and a few days out further, I need space, I need fresh air, I want more quality time with my family not spending hours in the car driving across the city’. I think we’ve seen a huge change in the way people want to live.”
