In a surprise feat that no one saw coming, Seven’s The Voice has been a ratings triumph since it premiered three weeks ago.

And despite having its doubters – including execs at the series’ previous home, who wished Seven “well in their quest to revive yet another Nine show” – host Sonia Kruger puts the winning formula down to the calibre of talent on offer this year.

“Viewers have really been drawn to the outstanding level of talent.

“Just when you think you’ve heard the best, there is someone who blows everyone out of the water,” she tells Woman’s Day.

“They also bring a great sense of fun and warmth to the show.”

“We’re going back to grassroots and uncovering those talented diamonds in the rough – the show has found its heart and soul again, which the audience are there for.”

Since its premiere, more than one million viewers have tuned in every episode to watch coaches Guy Sebastian, Rita Ora, Jessica Mauboy and Keith Urban swivel their red chairs as they battle to find the ultimate voice.

Sonia, 56, says their star power is also a major ratings booster.

“Not only are our coaches national and international superstars at the top of their game, but they also bring a great sense of fun and warmth to the show,” she says.
