It takes real bravery to appear on The Voice, but to do so at 15, while grieving the death of your mum, takes extra courage.
Melbourne performer Jessie Eilers showed she has it in spades when she sang the touching Sarah McLachlan song Angel in front of our judges, which we’ll see on Tuesday night.
By the end of her performance there wasn’t a dry eye in the house, prompting all four judges to give Jessie a big hug.
So how hard was it for her to share her story of her mum’s unexpected passing in 2016 from a blood clot?

“It was quite confronting to know that so many people would know my story and it’s really not an easy thing, talking about your mum’s passing to complete strangers,” she tells Woman’s Day.
“But I know my mum would be so supportive of what I’m doing with my singing and she’d have been over the moon that I was able to be on The Voice.”
Jessie attended the Blind Auditions with her biggest fan, her dad Phil, her best friend Bree and Bree’s mum Sonya.
“My dad has been the biggest supporter,” she says. “He’s at all my competitions and he drives me to all my singing and dancing. He’s been there through everything – he’s amazing!”
