The Voice has had its fair share of emotional moments this season.

From Guy Sebastian breaking down in tears to a transgender teenager’s inspiring story in the Blind Auditions, the Channel Nine singing show has really tugged at the heartstrings.

But Tuesday night’s episode may have been the most emotional one The Voice has ever aired, with both contestants and coaches breaking down in tears following the The Koi Boys’ battle against Daniel Shaw.

Their performance of The Beatles’ hit Let It Be was dedicated to the victims of the Christchurch terror attack, an event which hit particularly close to home for New Zealand natives, the Koi Boys.

“It’s a pretty dark place right now in the world in light of what’s happened back home in New Zealand. The absolute tragedy there in Christchurch,” Koi Boys member Danny said in piece to camera before the performance.

The boys sobbed as they sang during a moving performance that left Delta Goodrem and Kelly Rowland in tears and unable to speak and caused the coaches and audience to give a standing ovation.

It was then revealed that the trio had actually been in Christchurch at the time of the attack.

“We were about to do a show and the song we were doing was What a Wonderful World,” Danny said.

Choking up and close to tears, Guy Sebastian told them: “As you were about to sing, I could hear you guys sobbing and then you have to sing a song which is why … it’s why we sing. Because it’s still a wonderful world.”

It was a sentiment echoed by Boy George who added: “It’s a reminder that there’s more love in the world than there is hate and we should always remember that.”

It was too much for Delta Goodrem who left the stage in tears.

But when it came time for Delta to make a choice between the competitors after such a stirring moment, it was all too much.

“I just feel very strange about this moment because it’s very beyond a competition or a conversation about … I’m sorry, I’m trying to find my words,” she said, before getting up and leaving the stage in order to compose herself.

Backstage, producers trying to console the songstress as she cried “I just feel really… I feel really unwell. I’m just not sure how to kind of have that conversation.”

Delta added: “I just don’t want to upset any of them, you know?”

After being comforted by The Voice producers, Delta eventually returned to stage where she made the heart-wretching decision to choose Daniel over the Koi Boys.

But even though their Voice journey came to a heartbreaking end, all was not lost for The Koi Boys.

Despite Delta opting not to use her Wildcard on them to take them through, she did offer them the deal of a lifetime and asked them to join her on her upcoming tour, which they happily accepted.
