She’s 60 and it suits her! Shaynna Blaze turned heads as she arrived on set to shoot the new season of The Block in Melbourne’s Hampton East last week, and onlookers couldn’t help but notice the amazing chemistry the TV star – who recently celebrated her big birthday – had with a handsome new co-star: real estate agent Marty Fox.
Marty, 35, who’s appeared in the series’ auctions for years, is a happily married father-of-three, but sources say he and Shaynna are “dynamite on screen together”.
In fact, TV insiders say he may have a shot at stealing a coveted spot from one of the other judges.
The Block’s co-creator and executive producer Julian Cress has opened up about what he looks for when casting a judge for the show.
“Without naming names, sometimes judges are chosen for reality shows because of their bluster,” he says. “You have people who dress up in silly hats and make lots of noise but unless they’re in full command of the information they’re imparting, viewers can see it’s a stunt.”
As the CEO of Whitefox Real Estate, Marty has vast knowledge of and insight into the Melbourne property market.
NEW BLOOD
Former Block contestants Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie – who have appeared on the Nine show twice and won in 2021 – have always maintained a real estate expert needs to be part of the judging panel.
“Two designers and a journalist, I don’t think is appropriate,” says Mark. “I think you need to add in the real estate expertise because they see the entire picture. Bring some different expertise into judging.”
