Scott Cam has hosted The Block for more than a decade, but this year is the first time he has constructed his own house on the renovation show.

Fans were thrilled to see what the qualified chippie and his team would design. Even contestants were given a peak into the country property where he was previously given praise, but his more recent addition has left fans unimpressed.

During a recent episode of The Block,Scott debuted giant shed skylights in the shape of the Southern Cross.

It was common to see the Southern Cross symbol in the 2000s, but in the “change the date” era, it is more commonly associated with boganism than patriotism.

“The only person wanting a Southern Cross skylight is a BLF [Builders’ Labourers Federation] fanatic and most of them don’t have $4 million+. Scotty, that is SO bogan,” one fan tweeted.

Other fans also took to Twitter to comment their dissatisfaction with the design:

“A southern cross skylight. I cannot,” one wrote.

“Scotty’s southern cross skylights are so gross.”

Another one wrote: “Gotta say, the southern cross in the shed roof, TACKY”.

A Blockhead suggested Scotty’s Southern Cross skylight was proof of the renovation show’s “white supremacy” ideologies.

The Block contestants Sharon and Ankur also seemed unimpressed by the design feature after sharing an image to Instagram featuring Sharon seeing the Southern Cross skylight for the first time.

“When Scotty told us he had a Southern Cross tattoo to match his skylights we said “of course ya do”, because ya know, Straya,” the Instagram caption read.

Among the various displeased comments was one fan who appeared to be “proud” of Scotty’s design choice.

“Stand proud Aussies – obviously the naysayers have no respect for their country. Love the Southern Cross Scotty!” they wrote.
