Ash’s 38th birthday celebrations are soured on The Block this week when “frenemies” Kristy and Brett give him the silent treatment.
With Ash’s wife Leah and Kristy no longer getting on, could this be the final nail in the coffin of their once healthy friendship?
‘Why is she punishing me?’
(Image: Nine)“They didn’t say anything to us, not even ‘Happy birthday [to Ash],'” Leah, 31, tells TV WEEK. “Kristy went so far as to lean across me and ask [fellow Blockhead] Leslie what sort of bed a two-year-old sleeps in. I thought, ‘Kristy, I have a two-year-old – I could have told you that.”
It’s Kids Bedroom Week, and the interaction could be innocent, but when Kristy and Brett try to leave before the birthday cake is brought out, Leah and Ash wonder why they turned up at all.
“I know they like to stir the pot, so it could have been just for that,” Ash says.
Kristy says she’s not prepared to fake her emotions.
(Image: Nine)Leah and Kristy started to fall out after Kristy’s conspiracy theory about sisters Eliza and Liberty being “Channel Nine plants” and not genuine contestants went “too far” for Leah’s liking.
When the siblings sat down with Brett and Kristy to work out their issues, Leah thought everything had been resolved.
“All I wanted was for her [Kristy] to talk to the girls [Eliza and Liberty] and sort things out,” Leah explains. “I thought we’d all be friends and everything would go back to normal, but she continued to shut me out. I thought, ‘Why is she punishing me?'”
For her part, Kristy says she’s not prepared to fake her emotions.
“I know the girls gave Leah and Ash an ultimatum,” Kristy, 34, says. “They said, ‘If you’re going to be friends with Kristy and Brett, we can’t be friends with you.’ It seems they took it, and I wasn’t going to be fake purely just to ride out the rest of the time [on The Block].”
Can one-time buddies Leah and Kristy come back from this latest incident or will they blow the candles out on their relationship for good?
