Since its debut way back in 2003, the exhausting reality show has put its contestants to the ultimate test.

While some rose to the challenge throughout difficult conditions – lack of sleep, high-pressure situations and fierce competition to the win the ultimate prize – others ultimately floundered.

With the stress causing their relationships to crack beyond repair, many Blockheads over the years have called it quits for good.

Among the victims of The Block’s love curse are the fiery Dea and Darren Jolly as well as Tinder couple Andrew Simmons and Whitney Nolan.

Dubbed “The Sweethearts” on the show, Andrew Simmons and Whitney Nolan broke up shortly after the series went to air in 2015. The Victorian couple, who met on Tinder, told Woman’s Day they had decided to split ways before they made it to the finale.

“There were tears,” Whitney said at the time.

Dea and Daz

Their fights became legendary on two seasons of The Block, but it seems Dea and Darren’s constant bickering became too much for the couple, with Woman’s Day revealing their split in 2019. Dea, who runs a business and shares two children with her ex, said she had been left “blindsided and devastated by Darren’s actions.”
