The Block is back for 2022 and there’s a whole new cast of Blockheads ready to take on the new “Tree Change” challenge in the country.

Joel and Elle, NSW
Ex-AFL player Joel and his model fiancee Elle applied for The Block while watching the show during 2021’s brutal lockdown.
“In all honesty The Block got us through it [lockdown],” Elle, 38, tells Woman’s Day. “It was on four nights a week and I think we really did say, ‘We could do it and it would be fun.'”
However, if we’ve learned one thing from The Block, it’s that the build can test even the most confident of couples.
Depending how much time you’ve already invested in this season, you may have already heard their names, and while we’re yet to know how the season plays out, we can safely say Joel, 37, and Elle are set to cause a stir!
Will they embrace the Tree Change challenge, or will they flee the country faster than Scotty Cam can yell “Tools down!”?
Dylan and Jenny, QLD
For builder Dylan and his apprentice chippy fiancée Jenny, 2022 has been a huge year.
“We are building our own dream home in Palm Beach, getting married, and now we’re on the The Block,” Jenny, 25, tells Woman’s Day. “It’s an amazing time.”
As well as completing one of the hardest challenges they’ve ever had to face – being on The Block – Dylan, 28, and Jenny still have a lot of planning to do for their own wedding.
“We’ve set a date, we’re going to get married in March in Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast,” she adds.
“I’ve got 10 bridesmaids and Dylan has nine groomsmen and we’ll have to fit a few more people in now, we’ve made so many new friends on The Block.”
Omar and Osman, NSW
Best mates Omar and Osman, or “Oz”, are the first to admit that being carefree lads from Western Sydney they don’t appear to be much of a threat, but rest assured they’ll be a force to be reckoned with, while appearing to be underdogs.
“I think we’ll shock the world with how talented we are,” says Omar, 30.
“We’re both very competitive, which will help us push that extra bit to get the job done well. I’m telling you we are the wow factor The Block is looking for!” Oz, also 30, adds.
Former NRL player Omar and building maintenance manager Oz are both practising Muslims and are looking forward to bringing more visibility to young Muslim Australians.
“I’m a proud Australian and I want to show what two Muslim Aussies can do,” says Oz.
Tom and Sarah-Jane, VIC
Dynamic duo Tom and Sarah-Jane already know they’ll be “that couple who argue a lot”.
“We’re very authentic and express ourselves quite loudly, so our weakness would be our hot-headedness and bickering with each other, which can be a time waster,” Sarah-Jane, 30, admits.
“But we’ve dealt with more daunting and harder experiences in life such as giving birth to our first child [Cleo, one] while dealing with a pandemic. We knew we had each other’s backs no matter what,” she says of her and Tom, 34.
And when worst came to worst throughout the build, host Scotty was there to help mediate.
“He was great for advice – he said to use every minute like it’s your last and that’s exactly what we did.”
Ankur and Sharon, VIC
If one half of this married couple looks familiar, that’s because Sharon played the role of fiery Dipi Rebecchi on Neighbours for four years – and you can expect just as many fireworks from her on The Block!
“Definitely when it comes to styling the house, yes,” Sharon, 35, says of the drama viewers can expect.
“The house we end up in commands drama! And as an actor, I’m connected to my emotions and vulnerability so you definitely see me feel all the feels.”
Her husband Ankur, 41, hopes his wife’s penchant for dramatic styling will overshadow the fact that both know very little about building.
“This is something so out of my comfort zone,” he says. “But I really wanted to grow and do something different, and what better way to do that than go on The Block?”
