While fans might be glued to the drama as the Blockheads race against time to produce a luxury home worthy of a paddle raise at auction, little do they know that behind the gloss of the multi-million-dollar Block homes are incomplete rooms, incorrectly installed products and ruptured tiling!

Speaking to Womanโ€™s Day, a former tradie reveals that nearly all of the โ€œcompletedโ€ homes have issues that require fixing after the amateur builders โ€œfinish themโ€.

In fact, sneaky producers employ a secret group of tradies to swoop in and work on the homes, the minute the gavel is slammed down at auction.

โ€œAs soon as the homes sell, weโ€™re told to go in and correct all the mistakes that were made,โ€ the source reveals.

โ€œIt ranges from waterproofing, installing appliances, even repainting.โ€

The source, who has โ€œcorrectedโ€ several homes from previous Block seasons, says theyโ€™re often in disbelief at how much they need to redo.

โ€œThereโ€™s always so much we need to correct. Thereโ€™s no way that they can complete these rooms to a liveable standard in the amount of time theyโ€™re given, particularly the bathrooms,โ€ says the insider.

โ€œJust one coat of waterproofing needs at least a week, and these guys are meant to complete everything within that time frame.โ€

โ€œThe judges [Shaynna Blaze, Neale Whitaker and Darren Palmer] come in and judge on aesthetics, but if we walked in and pointed out numerous problems within the rooms, theyโ€™d all probably get the lowest scores from us in terms of functionality,โ€ the source reveals.

While the tradie admits that the builders on hand do โ€œthe best that they canโ€ with the time theyโ€™re given and their levels of expertise, thereโ€™s only so much that can be done.
