Cracks are starting to show in The Block buddies Kristy and Leah’s relationship this week, and fans will be left questioning whether the bust-up will spell the end of their friendship.

After a heated confrontation during which Kristy accuses Melbourne sisters Eliza and Liberty of being “Channel Nine plants“, Leah decides she doesn’t want to look “guilty by association” and starts to step back from what appeared to be a growing friendship.

“I felt physically uncomfortable [during the confrontation],” Leah, 31, tells TV WEEK. “I started to realise there are more layers to Kristy and that maybe it’s all gone a bit too far.”

Kristy, on the other hand, feels Leah has played just as much a part and is backpedalling merely to “save her image”.

“I felt betrayed,” Kristy, 34, says of Leah’s apparent change of heart. “There were a lot of upsetting things between Leah and other contestants in the first few weeks I had nothing to do with.”

This week on The Block, it’s Master Ensuite Week – as well as the Domain Listings Challenge, where prospective buyers can look over the current state of the competing houses and vote for the one they like best. The team that tops the vote pockets $50,000.

There’s an afterparty where, after a few drinks, Leah becomes the target of what she calls Kristy’s “nasty” tactics and she’s “verbally attacked”.

“I’ve never been spoken to like that by a friend in my life,” Leah says. “If you’re on Kristy’s side, life is great – but the second you’re in her firing line, you’re done for.”

Leah and her husband Ash start to worry about the example they’re setting their three young children.

“First and foremost, I’m a mother,” Leah says. “I’d be a hypocrite if I didn’t stand up for what I thought was right, because that’s what I teach my kids.”

In the wake of the afterparty, Leah and Ash decide Kristy and her husband Brett’s morals don’t align with theirs and they have to confront them about the things they’ve said and done.

Kristy alleges she’s being made a “scapegoat” and that Leah changing her tune isn’t about her children, but for the cameras.

“There are two sides to Leah,” Kristy declares. “I won’t be sad about the loss of our friendship, because you can’t grieve the loss of someone you never knew.”

TV WEEK can reveal it all leads to an explosive showdown that could blow up their friendship forever.

Can they repair the damage?
