When Bachelor and Bachelorette season rolls around each year, we all know the drill.

Guy or girl meets 20 odd suitors, drama ensues along with awkward first kisses, rose ceremonies a-plenty and well more drama until eventually one guy or gal is left standing with the final rose.

Well, it was until the Bachelorette 2020 decided to throw a spanner in the works.

In July, the Bachie fandom was left reeling when the Bachelorette announcement finally came, with a twist that left us, and many others scratching their heads.

Of course, the fact that Elly Miles, the charismatic blonde from Matt Agnew’s season of The Bachelor, was this years leading lady didn’t come as a huge shock.

But what did come as a shock was when a second Elly lookalike was also announced as the 2020 Bachelorette.

Yep – we had a double whammy in the form of two sisters, Elly and her older sister Becky.

Elly and Becky Miles are both Bachelorettes this year.

You can imagine our intrigue as to how on earth this was going to play out with two love-seekers helming the show.

And it seems even those directly involved were just as baffled as us.

The first trailer was released to the masses last night, with our first glimpse at how those red carpet entrances were going to go down.

And suffice to say it was… confusing.

Wait, why are there two of them…?

“This year… things are a little different!” Network Ten captioned the new video.

“Get ready for double the romance and double the fun with sisters, Elly and Becky.”

In the clip, we’re met with a series of men who’ve just arrived at the mansion in various states of shock at meeting two ladies.

“Why are there two?!” One exclaims.

Another says, “Two girls… one guy each. Oh okay phew.”

One Bachie OG also took to the platform to share his thoughts on the new process – last years winner of the show Carlin Sterritt, who recently split from former bachelorette Angie Kent, wrote: “So if you don’t get a rose… you legit couldn’t vibe with either of them… and that’s rough!”

Another pointed out another, um, potentially awkward problem: “So technically both of them could be macking on with their potential brother in law 😂 …you couldn’t write this sort of drama!”

One fan was keen to see a refreshed look for the show: “KEEN! I’m done with Bachie now, give me double love and beautiful Elly!”

The two sisters have their sights firmly set on finding love.

It’s not yet clear how exactly the show’s format will play out with two Bachelorette‘s, but we do have one example to go by – The Bachelorette New Zealand.

Last year the Kiwi version of the dating show shocked its viewers with the arrival of a second Bachelorette – after the show had already begun.

It quickly became clear that the men had been cast with the two different ladies in mind – so perhaps we’ll get something similar for Elly and Becky.

Otherwise, they might be looking at a rather awkward wedding day speech… “Remember that time I hooked up with your now-husband on national TV…?”

The scenes.
