TRIGGER WARNING: Model Simone Holtznagel has slammed I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star Davina Rankin for claiming she’s the most trolled person in Australia.
Davina, 29, who rose to fame for her “cheating” scandal on Married At First Sight back in 2018, made a splash when she entered the jungle on Wednesday night.
“I think a lot of people remember me as the villain… I guess every show needs its villain. I was the most trolled person in Australia,” the mother-of-one said in her intro.
“It was a tough time, but, I mean, it has made me very resilient. If I can get through that, I think I can get through almost anything. I am truly ready for it.”
Davina infamously cheated on her on-screen “husband” Ryan Gallagher with Dean Wells, which led to months of relentless online trolling.
However, in the four years since first hitting screens, Davina has rebranded herself and has launched a successful influencer career and is engaged with an adorable two-year-old daughter.
But Davina’s claims that she was the most trolled celebrity in the country rubbed Simone the wrong way. The model’s late mentor and friend Charlotte Dawson died by suicide in 2014 after facing intense bullying on Twitter.
“I mean I’d argue that the most trolled celeb in Australia is in fact dead, but go off Davina #ImACelebrityAU,” the 28-year-old tweeted on Wednesday night after I’m a Celeb aired.
Charlotte was known for her judging role on Australia’s Next Top Model bur the New Zealand-born star had a history of depression.
When Simone appeared on I’m a Celeb in 2018, she opened up about how her close friend’s death affected her.
“I miss her… I am not angry any more, I just wish she was here,” she told her camp mates.
On the seventh anniversary of Charlotte’s death in February 2021, Simone shared a sweet tribute to the 47-year-old.
“The last seven years when this date comes around, I feel like I want to say something profound about suicide and losing one of the most special people in my life,” she wrote on Instagram.
“But seven years comes and goes and I still can’t seem to find the right words other than – I miss you, I love you and I f**king wish you were here. That’s all I can manage.”
