My Kitchen Rules 2023 started off the competition in the home of Western Australian best friends, Tommy and Rachel.
Fans seemed to adore the housemates, but the question on everyone’s lips was: is Tommy and Rachel dating?
Many people assume the pair are a couple given they are very affectionate with each other, however, Tommy and Rachel are purely platonic. Although, even Tommy admitted their relationship can be “complicated.”
“Our relationship is almost as if we are dating. It’s a little bit complicated,” he said.
Rachel added: “We are not in a relationship romantically.”
Fans weren’t the only ones questioning the pairs involvement after fellow contestant Nick felt “slightly disappointed that Rachel is spoken for ’cause she’s definitely my type.”
Following the teams successful first night, fans flooded the comment section with love and praise.
“Rachel and Tommy are vision of loveliness and their creative personalities was displayed on their dishes. Beautiful pair,” one commented.
“You guys need to be with each other” another wrote.
“They did very well. I’m looking forward to seeing more from them. All 3 dishes were beautifully presented. Really enjoyed the show and Rach and Tommy seem so lovely. Off to a great start.”
The WA team served an entrée of Rottnest Scallops with White Puree Tarragon and Miso Butter, while the main dish was Crispy Duck Leg with Blackberry and Port Jus and Potato Gratin.
While the dishes were loved, the dessert was their downfall when Colin asked: “Did you taste everything on the plate tonight?”
“It tastes like garlic. It’s a garlic flower,” Rachel pointed out.
Tommy and Rachel still ended the night with an impressive score of 44 out of 60.
