Jake and Elle have been crowned the winners of My Kitchen Rules: The Rivals, for 2020.
The duo beat out rivals Dan and Steph during a nail-biting finale episode, with the winner reveal delayed by more than 45 minutes due to Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s late-night press conference about the new coronavirus rules.
While fans were not happy about being forced to wait more than two hours to find out who won, they were over the moon for the winning couple.
“I’m so happy for Jake and Elle. Glad to see them take out the #MKR final. I love Dan and Steph as well. But to see them win against them is sort of bittersweet. I’d have loved to even see Jac and Shaz in the final,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
Another said: “Got little teary, well done Jake and Elle well deserved, once the covid19 pandemic is over I am so going to their restaurant #mkr.”

This year’s season of MKR has been packed full of drama, with a shocking love triangle between Roula Kfoury, Ben Key and Lauren Matthews, as well as drama between Romel Kouyan and well, everyone.
But despite the onscreen antics, sadly that hasn’t translated into impressive ratings.
Channel Seven removed the show from its coveted Sunday night programming schedule in February, and reduced the number of episodes screening a week to just three, as MKR struggled to keep up with the Channel Nine’s ratings juggernaut, MAFS.

(Image: Channel Seven)While some viewers expressed their disdain with the new format and endless drama across the table, this week beloved judge Manu Feildel shared his view on why he believes the show is “slowing” down.
“The competition is great, the food is great, unfortunately there is a bit too much fighting between the contestants,” Manu told Now To Love earlier this week.
He added: “I wouldn’t blame that for the low ratings.”
Instead, the popular celebrity chef says it comes down to viewer exhaustion.
“We’ve been on air for 11 years,” he explained.
“There are other shows on other networks that people prefer to watch, that’s just the way it is.”

Lasting more than a decade on our screens is an impressive feat for any show.
Manu explains he’s surprised and grateful for MKR‘s success.
“Every year we go on TV we think ‘My god, it’s been nine years, my god it’s been 10 years, my God it’s been 11 years.’ Everyone was surprised.
“It might not be the end of it yet but, it’s slowing down and that’s by natural process.”
