While all of the Bachelor in Paradise couples have now called it quits, one duo have remained “adult” about their break up.
Just days after letting the world (well, Australia) know that they are no longer an item, Megan Marx and Jake Ellis were spotted on a night out together in a Queensland nightclub.
After backlash taking aim at the sincerity of their break up, Megan has defended the pair, explaining they are trying to be “mature” about it.
“When Jake and I broke up we agreed on a few guidelines and principles,” she said. “To not get nasty, to not use media as a way to get ahead, to remember the good over the bad, to give one another space but stay as close as is reasonable in hard circumstances.”
She went on to say that it was unfortunate their story was being twisted and that their respect for one another, questioned.
“It’s hard not to be paranoid and too much in your head, it’s hard not to respond to ridiculous claims that attack someone you want the best for and hard not to try to defend yourself.”

Jake Ellis and Megan Marx are trying to remain “adult” during their emotional break up.
“I’m trying to deal with this in an adult way, without slinging s—and I’m proud to have dated someone who has the same diplomacy and respect in an incredibly emotional situation.”
The couple, who broke up last week, confirmed the news of their split on social media, with Jake revealing that he hoped they could one day rekindle their “special love and come back together”.
When Megan spoke out, she called Jake “big hearted” and breaking up with him was “destroying”.

“Our first kiss and first date was on a reality TV show — something I’ll always treasure as a beautiful experience and as beautiful memories,” she said.
“The rest, in private, far exceeded the fun/romance of the show as we grew to love and respect each other, and also tease the s— out of each other as best friends.
“We’ll be keeping everything else to ourselves — sending love to everyone who has supported us.”

Now, Megan hopes that Jake will find the right girl for him and the right man or woman for her, once she is ready to date again.
“I’ve never wanted to disappoint the public with the privacy of our break up, but just like most people – the raw heartbreak you want to keep as hidden as possible, to not only save face but to protect those involved.”
