MasterChef contestant Sandeep had a night to remember – not only did he win the Immunity Pin with his incredible crayfish masala, but went on to land a perfect score of 30/30 in his cook against Andy Allen.
To add to his joy, judges Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Matt Preston even went as far to say that his crayfish masala could possibly be the best dish they’ve tried this season – and maybe the best dish from all 11 seasons so far!
“As soon as we tasted Sandeep’s, it was unbeatable,” Matt said.
Sandeep tells TV WEEK the score and feedback was “incredibly humbling”.
“Right from the day I got an apron, it’s been like a fairytale,” the IT project manager, 36, reveals. “It was such a huge honour to be told it’s one of the best dishes they’ve tasted. It was incredibly humbling.”
Despite his achievements, Sandeep isn’t getting ahead of himself. He prefers to keep his focus on the cook ahead, rather than winning the MasterChef title.
“It’s the best strategy for me,” he says. “If I keep my eyes on the prize, I lose focus in the next cook”.

Sandeep – who has an eight year old son, Siddhant, with his wife Prahalika – say his family are incredibly proud of his MasterChef journey.
“This is not just my journey, it’s our family’s journey,” he says.
“Watching my parents be proud of me [for being on the show] has been one of the proudest moments of my life”.
