The Masked Singer Australia 2021: Every single celebrity behind the mask, revealed!

The Masked Singer Australia returned this year for a third season and with millions of Aussies still in lockdown, it couldn’t have come at a better time.

Stuck inside with nothing to do, we all diverted our attention to guessing which big name celebs were hiding on the show in 2021.

The judges were guessing too, with Dannii Minogue, Jackie “O” Henderson, Urzila Carlson and Dave “Hughesy” Hughes taking some truly wild stabs at who each character was.

In the past we’ve seen the likes of Sophie Monk, Cody Simpson and Bonnie Anderson unmasked on national TV.

So which famous faces popped out of those outrageous costumes this time around? And who took out the top spot?

Vampire: Anastacia

After a spectacular finale, Vampire was crowned the winner of The Masked Singer Australia for 2021 and revealed her identity as American songstress Anastacia. The only judges who managed to guess her identity were Dannii Minogue and Jackie O, but fans had Vampire’s identity pegged for weeks!

Dolly: Em Rusciano

The fans were right, it was Em Rusciano hiding under the Dolly mask! Hughesy definitely should have been able to pick her voice, but he insisted that he didn’t realise it was her because she sounded too good… nice try, Hughesy.

Mullet: Axle Whitehead

What a blast from the past! It was none other than season one Australian Idol star Axle Whitehead hiding under the Mullet mask, and yes, he was sporting a mullet under that huge fish head. The judges couldn’t believe they didn’t pick his voice, especially Hughesy, who actually grew up in the same area and has known him for years… awkward.

Kebab: Jack Vidgen

We knew it! Fans guessed that Jack vidgen was under the Kebab mask early on this season, but judge Dannii was left red-faced when he popped out from under the mask after she insisted it simply couldn’t be him. The young star wrote on Twitter after his unmasking: “Okay so you basically ALL guessed it! I’M KEBAB on @maskedsinger_au 💓.”

Baby: Ella Hooper

Fans had been convinced for weeks that Killing Heidi singer Ella was under the baby mask – and they were right! Dannii was the only judge who managed to guess this star’s identity, and Ella had prenty of fun on the show, writing on Instagram: “What an absolute trip! Had a ball being this big beautiful bundle of back-breaking prop and animatronics!”

Alli Simpson Lightning

Lightning: Alli Simpson

Her big brother Cody won the first ever Australian season but model and actress Alli didn’t make it to the finale. “What an absolutely surreal & incredible few weeks of my life.. becoming Lightning was super empowering for me – especially being the young girl that could not sing in front of anyone without crying of nerves first,” Alli wrote on Instagram after her unmasking.

Atlantis: Macy Gray

Plenty of fans were cheering when Macy Gray was unmasked, as she had been a popular guess when it came to Atlantis’ identity. After her unmasking, the show wrote on Instagram: “Thank you so much, Macy Gray! We loved SEAING you as Atlantis and you sure MERMAID our night tonight.”

Rubble: Kyle Sandilands

Making a one-episode special appearance on the show, Rubble from Paw Patrol really had the judges guessing – but one of them definitiely should have realised who it was under the mask. Jackie O couldn’t believe her eyes when her radio co-host Kyle Sandilands appeared from under this mask. “WHAT THE ACTUAL F, KYLE! 😱🤩” read a post on the radio show’s Instagram.

Pavlova: Mahalia Barnes

Fans had been guessing Cold Chisel frontman Jimmy Barnes was under the Mullet mask, not realising his daughter was hiding under the Pavlova mask! Mahalia’s name has been thrown out countless times before in previous seasons of The Masked Singer but the judges were still amazed when she popped off her mask.

“Well, I kept receiving all of these tweets every year, asking if I was on The Masked Singer. I thought, ‘Why haven’t I been asked to be on The Masked Singer?'” Mahalia joked.

Piñata: Lote Tuqiri

He belted out LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem, but the judges just couldn’t figure out who was under the Piñata mask. Dannii Minogue was leaning towards actor Sam Neill and Hughesy took a wild stab, guessing Tesla creator Elon Musk – but it was actually former professional dual-code rugby footballer, Lote Tuqiri.

He wrote on Instagram of his time on the show: “So nerve wracking to just get on that stage and don’t mention the choreography to go along with learning the lines to the songs.”

Professor: Ben Lee

After belting out Seal’s Kiss From A Rose, the judges guessed Simon Baker, Zac Hanson, Jimmy Rees or even (and this is a wild card) David Attenborough was behind the Professor mask – but none of them got it right!

When he finally removed his mask it was none other than Catch My Disease hitmaker Ben Lee. “I like to try things that make me feel weird,” he wrote on Instagram of his gig on the show.

Duster: George Calombaris

He performed a clean version of Shake Your Tail by Ray Charles and Hughesy guessed it was sporting legend Michael Clarke under the Duster mask – but he was wrong!

None of the judges managed to guess Duster’s identity correctly and they were all gobsmacked when it turned out to be former MasterChef judge George Calombaris!

Volcano: Vinnie Jones

After a powerful rendition of I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers, actor Vinnie Jones became the first celebrity to be unmasked this season. Known for his roles in Snatch, She’s The Man, and more, none of the judges managed to guess his identity.

Dannii insisted it was Sacha Baron Cohen under the volcano mask, while Hughesy suggested it may have been actor Christian Bale.
