The producers on this year’s season of Married at First Sight have been unable to escape accusations that a number of the participants are paid actors, with Sam Ball, Mike Gunner and even Billy Vincent coming under fire.

Now new information uncovered by Woman’s Day reveals there actually was one participant who was cast with the intention to be the show’s biggest villain – Lizzie.

“Producers firstly asked Liz to be the villain and to be the one to cheat this year and asked if any other grooms she [would be interested in],” a source tells Woman’s Day.

“She was told she could choose anyone and they would try to make it happen and they stressed how famous it would make her so she went along with it.”

The source also explains that they purposely gave the 27-year-old sales assistant a dramatic “witch makeover” before the show to make her villainous persona more believable.

“They changed her look up before filming to suit the character she would be playing,” a source explains.

“Her heavy winged eyeliner, dark lip and overdramatic hand gestures were all intentional. She didn’t look like that before the show and it’s telling that she ditched the look as soon as the cameras stopped rolling.”

According to the source, Lizzie’s wedding was originally filmed with the intent of her being this season most controversial brides.

“You can tell in the way they were setting her up on the one-on-one interviews at her wedding, they were trying to make her out to be a psycho, provoking her to get all the shots of her with her evil eyes,” the source says.

However, when Lizzie saw snippets of the footage, she got cold feet and threatened to quit the show altogether, so they went with Ines instead.

“Ines was obviously a lot easier to crack and it wasn’t as much of a stretch for Ines to be the villain,” the source explains.

“She was more capable than Lizzie, who they decided in the end was actually a better fit to fill the shoes of Tracey Jewel’s ‘strong, powerful woman’ so they decided to run with that.”

Adding more fuel to the fire, Woman’s Day is told that while Lizzie’s villainous character was killed off early on, her antics continued off-camera.

While she may have appeared nice on screen, we’re told that off-camera, it was a completely different story.

“Sam requested that he wasn’t left alone with Lizzie unless the cameras were rolling because she acted so different,” a source says.

“Ines also made claims that she was petrified of Lizzie because of their argument at the girl’s night where she stood over her and screamed in her face. Even though Ines is very brutally honest, she’s not confrontational like Lizzie and was trembling after their encounter.”

When Lizzie pulled out from playing the show’s villain, they suggested that she could play another character – the jilted lover.

“She was being told to do what the producers said,” a fellow contestant spills.

“They absolutely milked her. She was always having secret meetings and was kept separate from the other cast and given special treatment and her crazy meltdowns were edited out in order to make Sam look bad.”

The source claims Lizzie not only knew about Sam’s affair with Ines, but also allowed it to happen by going along with productions plan to mysteriously “disappear” for a week.

“No one believes she was actually sick, the whole thing was set up,” the contestant says. “She was pushing Sam’s buttons off camera to bring out the worst in him in order to gain sympathy.”

The contestant went on to explain that because Lizzie did everything producers wanted she has since been rewarded by producers and the other contestants are furious!

“She’s done the majority of press following the show and she’s the only contestant promoting brands on Instagram,” a fellow contestant dishes.
