The fairytale ending Married At First Sight viewers have always hoped for has come true.
After falling head over heels in love with his bride Jules, Cam decided to turn their TV marriage into a reality by getting down on one knee during the couple’s vow renewal.
Without hesitation, Jules said yes, and now the couple tell TV WEEK they can’t wait to say “I do” – again!
“It just felt right,” Cam, 34, says of the proposal. “Spending time apart from Jules put everything in perspective. When I saw her again for the first time [at the vow renewal], she was all I could focus on. It was like I had tunnel vision. I was like, ‘This is it.'”
Gazing adoringly at her husband-to-be, Jules, 36, admits the proposal came as a surprise. While they’d discussed their future, she didn’t believe Cam would pop the question so soon.
Now, Jules is looking forward to a future with her dream man and says wants to get married sooner rather than later.
“We’ll get married this year – 100 per cent,” she says, adding that it will be an “outdoor intimate affair”.
“It will be a similar feel to what we already had [on MAFS], because it was beautiful,” Cam spills, revealing the major change will be to the bridal party, which will include some familiar faces.
“I have a close mate in Mick – and he will be one of my groomsmen.”
Jules is saving two spots in her bridesmaids’ line-up for her fellow MAFS brides, Heidi and Melissa.
“My bridesmaids are the ones who’ve seen me through the heartache, held my hand through all the love and everything,” she says.
“They had my back the whole time – great friends for life. No-one can really understand the MAFS experiment unless you’ve lived it.”
As for the celebrant, that’s a role that belongs to John Aitken, one of the relationship experts who helped matchmake the couples on MAFS.
“We’ve already asked John if he’ll marry us!” Jules reveals. “Cam and John get along so well and have lots in common.
“We have a lot of time for him. We even call Cam ‘Cam Aitken’ now!” Jules says, adding that they’ll invite the TV cameras along for the day.
“I think people would love to see us get married and show that MAFS actually does work,” Jules says.
As for the dress, Jules reveals she wants a different style this time around.
“I want a big Cinderella dress this time,” she says. “Then I’ll get a nice sexy dress to dance around in later – one that shows off my curves.”
She also confirms the couple would also be open to their own newlyweds-style spin-off series called Happily Ever After.
“Fans want to see stuff they haven’t seen before – and get a little look into our real lives. To see so much love and hope – it’s a beautiful thing.”
Cam and Jules’ relationship has progressed at lightning speed, so it’s no surprise to learn they’ve discussed having children. However, Jules says she’d rather tie the knot first.
“If I got pregnant now, it wouldn’t be the end of the world,” she says. “But I always thought I’d get married first,” adding that when the time comes, she hopes for twins.
“I want to get it all over and done with in one go,” she says with a laugh. “But Cam’s mum told me he wants four or five [kids], so I better get started!”
While the pair is confident about a wedding in their home state of NSW, Cam’s beloved mother Margaret has her fingers crossed for a destination wedding. She has her eye on Italy’s Amalfi Coast.
“I was talking to Cam about how we should do it on the Amalfi Coast,” she reveals. “It’s like my second home and we have family there.”
Whatever the case, Jules has her future mother-in-law Margaret’s firm seal of approval.
“She’s like a daughter – I feel like I’ve known her all my life,” she enthuses.
