Married At First Sight Australia 2023 sweethearts Melinda Willis and Layton Mills have ended their relationship.
Melinda took to Instagram stories to announce their split with a black and white photo from the MAFS final vows.
“Hi all. We wanted to keep this private for the time being, but we have a lot of supporters that are invested in the relationship and owe it to you to be transparent,” they wrote.
“After a lot of thought and consideration, we have sadly decided to both take time apart.
“We still care very deeply for each other and this doesn’t mean our lives can’t come back together, but as of now, we think this decision is for the best.”
“We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for all your support throughout our journey, it has meant the world to us.
“We hope you can understand and ask for your kindness and respect during this time.
“With love and gratitude, Mel and Layton,” the statement concluded.
The announcement comes after the pair celebrated their one-year anniversary in late August, where Layton gifted Mel a beautiful silver eternity ring.
A month before their anniversary in July, Mel informed Punkee that she was yet to hear his declaration of love.
“He can’t say I love you. He hasn’t and he just can’t do it,” she revealed.
Then in September while speaking on Nova’s Two Girls One Pod, Mel revealed he had finally confessed his love, just not in so many words.
“He has now… But it was in a love letter,” Mel confessed.
Despite this, it was clear to see that the pair were head over heels for another after Layton proudly confessed on the TV WEEEK Logies red carpet that Mel was his “number one.”
