When single dad Andrew married Holly, who’s yearning for a child of her own, we assumed they’d instantly hit it off.

The couple’s wedding day went relatively smoothly, but their relationship unravelled big time in the second week of the experiment following an explosive fight which prompted Andrew to walk out and threaten to leave the show.

At the second dinner party, their relationship came under scrutiny from the other contestants before Andrew stormed out and effectively ended his time on the experiment.

Holly initially had concerns over Andrew’s political views.

Andrew then failed to turn up to the third commitment ceremony, effectively ending his time on the show. However, Holly showed up and shared an emotional chat with the experts on the couch.

The 36-year-old had written a letter directed towards Andrew, which she tearfully read out in front of the group.

“Not long ago we were all single people in a room going to extreme lengths to find love. I worked hard to show you all who I was, to show you respect and courtesy,” she began.

“I wanted to be your friend and support you through this, but you all very quickly forgot what it was like walking in alone and single into a room full of couples not feeling like enough.

“I had been alone this entire journey and I came into the room hoping for support I hope I earned and I walked in the villain.”

Andrew has been married twice before and has a young daughter named Madison.

Whilst Holly’s relationship status is unknown, it seems Andrew has moved on romantically and continues to distance himself from the show.

He chatted with Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa on Monday, where he confirmed he has a new girlfriend whom he dated prior to the experiment.

“It kind of got sparked back up,” Andrew said of his romance, adding that he hasn’t spoken to Holly since the show and that he “100 per cent” regrets going on the show.

The father-of-one also admitted he would have been better paired with Sam, who was partnered with Al.

“Yeah, she was cool. But I wasn’t there to meet other girls. I was there to be paired with somebody. And no point was I thinking about that,” he said.

To understand how they got here, let’s take a look at Holly and Andrew’s turbulent journey…

Andrew told Holly he didn’t “enjoy” their first night of intimacy.

After initially being smitten by each other at the altar, Holly soon began to have doubts over the Texas-native’s morals.

“I’m thinking guns and anti abortion laws… [Donald] Trump is just coming through my head. This guy could be the father of my children, so my goodness, it’s kind of scary,” the 38-year-old told the cameras of her larger-than-life new husband.

“I wasn’t expecting an accent, that’s for sure… Maybe I’m a little caught off guard.”

Thankfully, Holly’s fears over Andrew’s political views were quashed when he assured her he isn’t a Trump supporter.

“He truly is, I think, a prince charming,” Holly gushed.

On their honeymoon, the couple were able to bond when Andrew broke down in tears over missing his daughter, prompting Holly to comfort him.

Holly confessed to Andrew her strong desire to have kids.

“You can’t fake [motherly instincts]. Now I see that she’s going to be there if I have a down moment. She’s a champion,” Andrew said of his wife.

Holly added: “Andrew is a special guy, he’s a warm father. So my feelings for Andrew are pretty intense at this point.”

But their romance showed signs of cracks in the later stages of their honeymoon after the couple became intimate. Andrew boldly told Holly that he “didn’t enjoy” their sexual encounter.

“I know I have the right equipment and I feel like I know how to use that. But I feel like when we were intimate you weren’t there,” he said.

“You were not physically there. I didn’t feel intimacy. I didn’t feel connected to you, so it wasn’t enjoyable for me. If I am being completely honest with you. I’ve had one night stands where the partner was more into me than you were into me.”

Andrew’s love of sex was then brought up again during a “confessions” game after moving in together, where he boldly revealed to Holly that he’s slept with “roughly 350 women”.

“Me expressing this and being honest about that is in hopes that we can get past what happened on the honeymoon,” he told the camera.

“[Hopefully] we can get a bit more heat in the bedroom and have some passion… I want somebody to want me and desire me as much as I desire them.”

Holly took Andrew’s admission in her stride and didn’t judge him, but their relationship came crashing down after she vulnerably expressed her urgent desire to have kids.

Andrew stormed out of the second dinner party.

While Andrew initially seemed accepting of it, he later told Holly he didn’t want to waste her time because they wanted different things.

The pair then got into an explosive fight which saw Andrew storm out of the apartment before telling producers that he wanted to go home immediately and see his daughter.

The couple briefly made up during intimacy week, but their ongoing tension came to a head at the second dinner party, where Andrew and Holly arrived separately.

Andrew arrived first and wasted no time in airing his and Holly’s dirty laundry, with most of the other contestants appearing to take his side.

Holly then made a statement by moving her chair away from Andrew’s spot at the dinner table.

Anthony and Selin tried to intervene and get the couple to work through their problems, but Andrew stormed out, took off his microphone and said he was “done” with his marriage and the series.
