A brand new season of Married At First Sight is almost upon us, with the first trailer for the 2020 season dropping this week, giving fans their first look at the brides and grooms looking to find love on the controversial reality show.
But it was one of the grooms in particular who caught our eye – Mikey Pembroke, the former real estate agent who now works as a operations manager for an aged care company.

We thought Mikey looked a little familiar, and we realise it’s because we recognise him from the Instagram account of fitness influencer Katie Williams. Katie was a contestant on the very first season of Australian Ninja Warrior, back in 2017.
Katie, 26, is a former professional athlete who now uses her social media platform to educate young women about maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle without deprivation or fad diets.
She hosts the Better For It podcast, is a presenter and also runs workshops teaching women how to incorporate her “Move #5kEveryday” philosophy into their everday lives, either walking or running for five kilometres every day of the week.
It seems Katie and Mikey shared a passion for fitness, with the MAFS star also sharing loads of photos of himself working out (usually shirtless) on his own Instagram account.
It’s unclear exactly how long these two dated for, but the pair were first pictured together on Instagram in July 2017, and the last couple photo Katie posted of her former boyfriend was in April 2018.
Both of their feeds are still filled with happy couple snaps from their time together, as well as sweet messages of support to one another – and it’s also telling that both Katie and Mikey are still following each other on Instagram, so it’s likely their breakup was fairly amicable.

In August last year, Mikey wrote a sweet, gushy post about his girlfriend in celebration of her birthday.
“Happy 25th @katiewilllly !! you are one of a kind!” he wrote.
“You are incredibly genuine, extremely fierce but very kind and have the biggest heart I know. Thank you for being patient and understanding I’m one weird cookie. Lots of love 💕 Mikey.”
And on the couple’s first anniversary in February 2018, Mikey wrote on Instagram: “365 days , 5 countries and a life time of memories! What a first year, I love doing life with you!”
A quick look at Katie’s Instagram reveals she’s clearly insanely fit – check out those abs! – and that she’s also a big advocate of balance and treating yourself when you feel like it.
Back in 2017, just before she appeared on Ninja Warrior, she actually revealed to news.com.au that her diet is “not amazing”.
“I would say I’m about 70-30 [70 per cent healthy, 30 per cent treats]. I love alcohol. I love chocolate. My philosophy in life is everything in moderation. For me it’s all about balance,” she said.
“If you go out and have cocktails that night, go for a walk in the morning. When your body needs a green smoothie, have one. When it needs an ice cream, have an ice cream. I go out all the time. I get invited to these events – as if I’m not going to go and have a champagne.
“If I’m going to have dessert I’m going to make sure I have an amazing dessert. I still drink, I still go out and go on holidays and blow out, and take it all off when I come back.”

Katie also offered up an insight into her and Mikey’s home life, when she was asked to reveal what she eats in a day.
She revealed she ate chicken and sweet potato nachos for dinner, adding, “My boyfriend makes it with chicken breast and roasts sweet potatoes as the chips. We do that a lot and mix beans with it.”
And while Katie didn’t make it past the first round of Ninja Warrior, she said she wanted to use her time on the reality show to prove to women being strong is sexy.
“There’s so much pressure on women to be a certain way and look a certain way. If I could use my time on the show in a positive way, I want my voice to be about life balance and enjoying everything in life,” she said.
