Married At First Sight‘s Melissa Walsh, who appeared on the 2018 season of the show when she was matched with groom John Robertson, is facing heartbreak again.
This time with her fiancé, artist Fred Whitson.
The former reality star has taken to Instagram to reveal she and Fred have called it quits and broken off their engagement just days before Christmas.
“After three years together, with a heavy heart I have to say that Fred and I have parted ways. I have loved him very much and will always treasure our good times together,” Melissa wrote.
She didn’t give a reason for the split but did go on to add: “Sometimes life doesn’t turn out the way we planned but we must have faith that better things await us.”
“Whilst this is a very difficult time for all involved, I know that I leave with my head held high. I am strong, resilient and my integrity is at the forefront of all my decisions.
To anyone else going through a breakup, my heart goes out to you.”
On his own Instagram page Fred shared a similar message: “For three and a half years, I have had the privilege to be part of a relationship the likes of which I have never experienced, and I will always cherish that and the incredible love we had for each other, the crazy fun and dizzying heights.”
The couple were reportedly due to marry in June this year in Vanuatu.
Speaking exclusively to Woman’s Day in 2018 Melissa gushed about her newfound love, Fred.
“I’ve never felt a love like this before!” Melissa said at the time.
“I finally understand why people write poems for people they love. When I hear a romantic line in a film, it finally makes sense… because I’m now one of those gushy people!”
