Bachelor In Paradise’s Renee Barrett just took a swipe at Married At First Sight’s new season by saying what we’re all thinking

Speaking our minds.

Here we are again, another year of Married At First Sight, another year with a complete lack of diversity amongst the contestants.

Somehow this year’s edition has taken a step backward featuring almost no cultural diversity and, despite welcoming LGBT+ couples previously, only marrying heterosexual brides and grooms.

Combine the abhorrent whitewashing with this year’s misogynistic behaviour, and we’re in for a troubling season.

Bachelor In Paradise star Renee Barrett has unsurprisingly taken a swipe at the show.

Taking to Instagram the First Nations health care worker shared a photo with fellow BIP star and close friend Niranga Amarasinghe laughing.

“@nirangaa and I laughing at the lack of diversity on MAFS ❄️ 🤷🏽♀️,” she captioned the post.

Fellow Bachelor alumni echoed Renee’s disappointment.

“That’s why I’m not watching,” Mary Viturino commented before Jess Brody added: “Married at first white.”

While reality series The Bachelor hasn’t been immune to backlash over its own diversity failures with many of the same stars speaking out in the past, Niranga added: “😂 @reneejbarrett At least channel 10 made it seem like they tried.”

There’s almost no diversity amongst this year’s contestants.

While we’re not sure we’d want to relate to the many of the stars on MAFS, it’s quite clear the show fails to reflect the multicultural nature of our country.

We’re struggling to understand how after year on year of complaints, we’re still seeing this problem on our screens. It’s 2021 for crying out loud.

We weren’t the only ones feeling like we’re banging our heads against a wall, viewers immediately expressed their disappointment with the show after its premiere.

Maybe we’ll have better luck next year.
