Network 10 confirmed the news at their Upfronts in Sydney on Thursday, where they revealed all the exciting details about Survivor’s new seasons. Yes, seasons.

Following on from the success of Luke’s return in 2019, Australian Survivor: All Stars will air in February featuring former contestants. Later in the year, a second season will air in the regular time slot.

Luke Toki placed fourth in Australian Survivor: Champions vs Contenters.

At this stage it’s unclear what Luke will be doing on his Australian Survivor spin-off show, with 10 hinting there will be “more news soon.” Maybe he’ll be interviewing eliminated contestants, or providing recaps for his loyal viewers?

The announcement is exciting for fans, who rallied around Luke and his family after his heartbreaking elimination from Australian Survivor: Champions vs Contenders this year.

Luke came in fourth, only just missing out on making it to tribal council where, as the rest of the contestants repeatedly pointed out all season, he would have won.

With fans wanting to support Luke, whose daughter Madeline was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis before he went in to the jungle, a quick GoFundMe was established. It raised more than $500,000 in just two days.

“It’s crazy,” Luke told TV WEEK. “Like, has this ever happened with any other reality TV contestant? It’s overwhelming.”

The “wild” amount of money will help Luke and his wife Mary to pay off debts, and will no doubt aid in their ongoing medical fees.

“I thought, at most, it would stop at $15,000. Like, that’s huge,” he said. “And I mean, you get $500,000? That’s life-changing! Who needs to win Survivor? Just come fourth!”
