They may be fan-favourites, but don’t expect to see South Australian House Rules couple Jess and Jared on another reality show.

“We’re very happy and grateful for the opportunity we had, but in terms of reality [TV], we’re hanging up our boots,” Jess tells TV WEEK.

The 25-year-old school teacher says they’ve been on the best reality show on offer.

“We wouldn’t want to tarnish what we’ve already done,” she adds.

Filming for this season of House Rules has wound up, and all the teams have returned to their normal lives. Jess has moved into Jared’s house – something she was unwilling to do pre-renovation.

“It’s so nice living together now,” she says. “We feel so much closer. We’ve gone through this journey and slog together.”

The other contestants transformed Jared’s run-down bachelor pad in to a New York-inspired warehouse home.

The couple were left speechless by the stunning transformation of their new home, which included a unique new fireplace in the living room and a luxurious spa-worthy bath for Jess.

Despite the joy the show has brought the couple, Jess admits there have been comments on social media about Jared that have bothered her.

“A few people said Jared didn’t know what he was doing,” she says. “That was probably the worst stuff. I don’t like seeing that.”

But Jess says they’ve been “really lucky” compared to teams such as Leigh and Kristie, and Mel and Dave.

“It’s horrible,” Jess says of online insults. “I’m a teacher and we teach kids anti-bullying. It’s heartbreaking. I didn’t like it at all.”

This week on House Rules, the exterior of Jess and Jared’s home will receive a makeover in the backyard battle round.

House Rules airs Monday and Tuesday, 7:30pm, and Sunday, 7pm, on Channel Seven.
