Unlike some of the beachy, boho looks of houses past, this week on House Rules we saw things get a little bit more modern and industrial.
The teams headed down south to Melbourne, where Tim’s family home was transformed from a modest townhouse to a sleek and sophisticated pad that hipsters could only dream of.
When the other teams were renovating Tim’s 1950’s cottage, the choice of dark flooring through the house was not well received.
“I’m not the biggest fan of dark floors,” Tim admitted during the walk-through with host Johanna Griggs. But the Atari gaming console in the den was a winner for the brothers and an early room reveal win for Lisa and Andy.
This week’s house rules were a little different to the past ones and included:
Fuse industrial with sleek
Choose timber, terrazzo and steel
Be cool with blue and green
Add warmth with furnishings
Bring Melbourne style with a graphic edge
But in one of the harshest critiques we’ve yet seen on this season, the judges agreed that few rules were adhered to and there was far too much black everywhere. What do you think?
