Is it getting hot in here, or is it just us?
House Rules fans were left a little, ahem, hot under the collar on Sunday night when co-host Jamie Durie revealed a little titbit from his past.
The 48-year-old, who is currently a judge on the Channel 7 series, made a very cheeky reference to his glory days as a stripper, when he joked about eating breakfast in the nude.
While admiring contestants Tim and Matt’s cedar feature wall in fellow cast Lisa and Andy’s house, he said:
“I’d be having breakfast in the nude thinking I’m in a sauna.”
Talk about making us blush, Jamie!
While we thought his comment was actually quite hilarious, it was not well received by his fellow judges Wendy Moore and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.
Staring at him in stunned silence, Jamie quickly added:
“I actually think this is a really clever application of cedar. Tim and Matt are courageous and the way they’ve finished off their workmanship is incredible.”

As with most TV gold, it did not go unnoticed by the show’s fans, who took to Twitter to share their “feelings” about his comment.
“I just threw up in my mouth a little at the thought of Durie breakfasting in the nude,” one user wrote. “Pretty sure @wendymooredit wasn’t far behind.”
“Jamie Durie is me whenever I make some weird awkward comment that I realise later I shouldn’t say,” another wrote.
And then there was this:
“Jamie in a sauna…I need proof!”
While we don’t have actual visuals of said sauna, there’s always this photo of a young Jamie during his days as a stripper (and you’re welcome):
And this:
And there’s this one:
In an interview with the Sunday Telegraph, co-host LLB revealed that he liked to “torment” the landscaper over his past.
“I never stop tormenting him,” he said jokingly.
“In fact, in many ways, Drew [former co-host} got off lightly compared to some of the stuff I inflict on Jamie. It’s a constant tease. Even Wendy is quite good at it as well. Jamie was talking about taking his trousers off the other day and she made a reference to the fact they were probably all velcro anyway, so they’d come off very easily.” HA!
Jamie joined House Rules in 2019, replacing Drew Heath, who appeared on the series’ panel in 2018.
He previously hosted 52 prime time design shows worldwide, including a variety of Australian landscape design and renovation series such as Backyard Blitz, The Block, Australia’s Best Backyards, The Outdoor Room and The Living Room.
He has scored three nominations for the Most Popular Presenter award at the TV WEEK Logie Awards, and won the award for Most Popular New Talent in 2001 for his break-out role on Backyard Blitz.
Upon his appointment, Jamie said in a statement:
“I couldn’t be more excited to be back at Channel 7. We built some great memories together. I’m looking forward to getting my teeth into all things design on one of Australia’s favourite design shows – House Rules.”
