While she’s no stranger to live television, fronting up as the new co-host for Channel Seven’s House Rules: High Stakes proved a big challenge for Abbey Way.
“I was pretty nervous,” the 29-year-old says. “Working in reality TV has been a new challenge for me, one I wasn’t expecting this year.”
An accomplished sports presenter, Abbey has found herself fronting one of Channel Seven’s most high-profile shows.
Luckily, she has the ultimate professional by her side: co-host Jamie Durie.
“Having someone like Jamie next to you means you’re in great hands,” Abbey says.
“He’s a legend and we get on like a house on fire.”

This season represents a shake-up for the show, with House Rules: High Stakes challenging teams to transform a high-rise penthouse on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
“The transformations this year are better than ever,” Abbey explains.
“I’ve gone from being a House Rules fan to part of the team, but I can honestly say the transformations are mind-blowing. We also have a few surprises in store!”
While Channel Seven has struggled in the reality stakes this year, with My Kitchen Rules: The Rivals failing to attract a strong audience, Abbey is confident House Rules: High Stakes will strike a chord.
“We’re changing lives, which is what I love so much about the show,” she says. “Plus, we have an incredible cast who Australia will fall in love with.”
Speaking of love, Abbey tied the knot late last year, marrying Sky Racing presenter Ben Way.
While the newlyweds are enjoying married life, the honeymoon is on hold.
“When we were planning the wedding, I didn’t know I’d be on House Rules, so we got married on Friday and I was back shooting on Monday,” Abbey says with a laugh.
“So that was pretty full-on, I keep promising my husband we’ll go on our honeymoon soon!”
