Well well well, Freddie Flintoff we expected better from you.

The 2015 winner of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here revealed that he cheated during his stint on the reality show in 2015 by sneaking out for secret “cigarette” breaks and stealing fresh water among other cheeky tactics.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s podcast, the former England cricket captain confessed he told the show’s producers he was a smoker. As smoking is a no no on Australian TV, anyone wanting a cigarette would have to leave the set, which he used to his advantage in the South African jungle.

“I said ‘I’m a smoker’, which I’m not by any stretch,” Freddie confessed.

“They asked me how many I wanted a day so I said five knowing I’d have to do it off screen.”

“I’d walk out the gate and there’d be a chair with a cigarette that I didn’t have, I just sat and had some peace to myself, not filmed and in nobody’s hearing.”

But Freddie didn’t draw the line there either! Instead of collecting water and boiling it to drink as you’re supposed to, Freddie skipped the hassle and sneaked into the nearby medical hut and filled his water bottle up around five times a day.

“I was more hydrated than I’d ever been in my life. [My wee] was crystal clear. After a few days, I was thinking, ‘They must think I’m a camel’. Nobody’s seen me drink.”

What’s more, Freddie played the game from the very start when he lied about one of his fears to make the gruelling Bushtucker trials a little bit easier.

“You fill a form in about what you don’t like. It’s out there that I don’t like the dark, so I thought I’d be truthful about that.”

“Another one I put was frogs because I don’t mind frogs. I did this challenge and they dumped a load of frogs on my head…”

Wonder if next year’s contestants will be as devious? Both Dr Chris Brown and Julia Morris are back to host another season of the reality show that will premier on Channel Ten on January 13.

“We feel the best years of the show are still to come,” Dr Chris Brown explained to TV WEEK.

“We have a ball over there – it’s like our own little private jungle tree house that some how we are licensed to perform in.”

So who’s set to appear? Word on the reality TV grapevine is that former Love Island Australia couple Grant Crapp and Tayla Damir will be reunited in the South African jungle as well as last year’s Married At First Sight‘s Nasser Sultan.

Guess we’ll have to wait until January to find out!
