Dean Wells is looking a lot leaner these days, and the former Married At First Sight groom tells NW it’s all thanks to his intense Dancing With The Stars rehearsals.

“I’ve lost seven kilos within about a month,” the clearly chuffed hot-stepper explains.

“I haven’t felt this good in a long time. Dancing has been the most challenging thing I’ve ever done in my life.”

Dean says he feels “really good” on his new regimen.

Dean also attributes his new bod to eating only fruit during the day and one meal at night.

“I really cut down the carbs, been having more water, I have so much more energy and feeling really good!” he said.

The Dancing With The Stars training regimen is famously intense, but Dean says his body is holding up so far.

“No [injuries] as of yet, thank god,” he said.

“Despite having all-over body aches and pains all day, every day, I’ve got no actual injuries.”

Dean says his biggest threats in the competition are Olivia Newton-John’s daughter Chloe Lattanzi and former NRL player-turned-TV presenter Beau Ryan.

“Chloe is a great dancer already and she’s got a natural rhythm and style, so she’s definitely one to watch,” Dean revealed, adding: “I think Beau is a bit of a dark horse.”

“(Beau) makes out like he’s humble and doesn’t really care that much but I think deep down he has this competitive streak and actually knows how to move,” Dean said. “I think there may be some game playing in there as well.

“But it is really hard. The steps and routines you have to remember, it’s crazy.”

Dancing With The Stars airs on Sunday nights at 7.30pm on Channel 10.
