Fresh from his split from Bachelorette girlfriend Angie Kent, Carlin Sterritt has revealed his reality TV dating experience could have taken a VERY different path.
Chatting to Big Brother star Sophie Budack on her YouTube show, Beyond The White Room, Carlin admitted he was initially in the process of becoming the actual Bachelor, rather than a contestant.
When Warner Bros. began their search for the 2019 Bachelor, who eventually ended up being Matt Agnew, Carlinโs boss nominated him for the role.
โHe did it behind my back. I didnโt ask him to do it,โ Carlin explained.

What could have been!
(Channel Ten)He then added: โI got an audition for The Bachelor and from that process โ and I didnโt get The Bachelor โ but I met with a lot of the casting directors and producers. They sort of got to know who I was.โ
โSo when The Bachelorette came to be, they pretty much gave me a call and said โHey, did you want to just apply for this?โ and I said, โSure!'โ
While the application process can be quite rigorous, the 32-year-old explained that after one group interview, he was โfast tracked from thereโ to end up on Angieโs season.

Carlin won Angieโs heart.
(Channel Ten)During his time on the show, Carlin didnโt mention he had originally applied to be The Bachelor.
Other stars on his season, however, had been outed for applying to previous seasons of the show, like Jackson Garlick on Georgia Loveโs season and Ryan Anderson on Ali Oetjenโs season.
While it all worked out for Carlin, who was the last man standing with the final rose lapel on his jacket, unfortunately the relationship recently came to an end.

The couple confirmed their split in July.
(Instagram)The couple confirmed their split on July 1, with Angie taking to Instagram to address the growing rumours.
โHi everyone, thereโs been a lot of speculation and rumours about the state of my relationship with Carlin. We have not wanted to confirm up until this point because there have been much bigger issues going on in the world and weโve both been taking space to think about what we really want,โ Angie wrote.
Speaking to Kyle and Jackie O on the KIIS FM radio show this week, Angie addressed the break up again.
โChemistry doesnโt always equal compatibility and we were smitten with each other on the show,โ she said.
โIโm more spiritual and a little bit more carefree and wild whereas heโs moreโฆ.,โ Angie added before Jackie said that Carlin was โa Christian boy.โ
โHeโs a Christian boy and weโre just different,โ Angie concluded.
