It turns out Prince Charlesโ€˜ wife, Duchess Camilla, is a huge MasterChef fan and was instrumental in the eldest child of Queen Elizabeth II to appear on the Australian cooking show.

The MasterChef episode featuring the Prince of Wales was filmed during Charlesโ€™ visit to NT earlier this year. MasterChef judge, Gary Mehigan has revealed to the Daily Telegraph that โ€œit appealed to his sense of raising the profile of the Northern Territory and Aboriginal communities and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.โ€

Gary also emphasised that it was Charlesโ€™ wife Camilla who got them over the line when it came to convincing Kensington palace to let him take part.

โ€œSheโ€™s a massive MasterChef fan,โ€ the judge revealed.

We already know Charles is a secret Masterchef!

In a press release, Channel Ten explained, โ€œHis Royal Highness The Prince of Wales will welcome MasterChef Australia judges Matt Preston, Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris to a reception for 150 guests at the Royal Flying Doctor Service base in Darwin tomorrow, catered for by this yearโ€™s contestants.โ€

The event was hosted by Northern Territory Chief Minister, Michael Gunner and in actually their toughest cooking challenge to date, the contestants would have to cook for REAL LIFE ROYALTY.

The brief for the NT cooking challenge is reported to be โ€œAboriginal, local, sustainable,โ€ which ticks all of the Royalโ€™s boxes.

As long as they make the future king a good cuppaโ€ฆ Things should be OK!

Earlier this year, before season 10 of MasterChef had even started, Gary expanded on this brief a little more.

โ€œThe Prince of Wales has always been an advocate for the environment and sustainability. He is well-known as a supporter of local producers and locally sourced produce.

โ€œWith this in mind, the challenge for our contestants is to respect and reflect his philosophy and use native and indigenous flavours along with other locally sourced ingredients.

โ€œIt is not only an enormous privilege and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to cook for His Royal Highnessโ€™s reception, but a challenge too,โ€ he added.
