When Luke McLeod and Lisa Hyde made a shock decision to leave the Fijian resort together in last night’s episode of Bachelor In Paradise, we believed it would be happily ever after for the duo.
But, this was not to be as the couple has split since leaving the show amid reports Luke cheated on Lisa.
Now, an emotional Luke has taken to Instagram to explain his side of the story.
“I feel like I have let a lot of people down, my friends and family and all you guys and obviously Lisa,” Luke explains.
He goes on to describe how, since leaving the show, he and Lisa have struggled to make their relationship a success.
“We did try to make it work on the outside,” Luke adds.
“I just don’t want to get into a debate around ‘He said, she said’ and all the different reasons that probably led to how things broke down.”
The couple seemed to be rock solid early on in Bachelor In Paradise. However, cracks started to show when fellow Bachelor Michael Turnbull admitted he was attracted to Lisa.
Nevertheless, Lisa made it clear to Luke how she felt towards him and apologised for accepting Michael’s rose.
Yet it looks like it’s Luke who is doing all the apologising now.
Although Luke does not go into exact detail about the reason for the split with Lisa, he simply says that, out of respect for her, it is just best to say “I stuffed up” and “I am sorry”.
He later addresses the unique type of position he was in, and how it is difficult to understand the pressure that these types of situations can cause on a relationship.
“We all make mistakes,” he concedes.
Speaking with TV WEEK, Luke admits his relationship with Lisa outside of the show has been tricky to navigate.
“We tried to spend time together, but you couldn’t be seen together in public otherwise that would have given it away,” he says. “So it was quite hard.”
