Dr Matt Agnew has blown us away with his infectious charm and McDreamy smile on The Bachelor, however, some new information about our Bachie has come to light – and it seems we might not have been told absolutely the entire truth about this guy.

While we already know that he searches for habitable planets as part of his role as an astrophysicist, what we didn’t know is that this isn’t his full-time job.

Turns out, Matt actually works at NAB’s head office in Melbourne, according to the The Sydney Morning Herald.

The 31-year-old is employed by data analytics company Quantium, but has been working on secondment for three months at the Aussie bank.

And due to the bank’s privacy policy, they refused to confirm or deny) if Matt is employed there.

Interestingly, the job is mysteriously absent from Matt’s LinkedIn profile, with only information about his PHD visible.

Of course, this is the only role path that Network Ten have publicised. Maybe because “data analyst at a bank” doesn’t quite have the same ring to it as “hottie who finds new planets”.

If you cast your mind back to the first episode, we witnessed the ladies thinking that an astrophysicist was a “fake job”, with others struggling to even pronounce it.

During an interview with 10 Daily, Matt explained what is he actually does.

“My specific research is about planetary science, so the stuff I’m doing is trying to figure out where another planet like Earth could exist, so we could actually look and find it,” he said.

But don’t get too excited, these planets are “really, really far away” so there’s “no technological way to actually get there.”

According to his LinkedIn profile, Matt is a PhD candidate at the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing at Swinburne University of Technology and has been for the last three years.

With a double undergraduate degree in science and engineering, a masters of astrophysics and the fact that he’s soon to become Dr Agnew, there’s no doubt he’s one smart cookie.

Anyone else tempted to connect with Matt on LinkedIn?

“I am self-motivated, enthusiastic and energetic. I enjoy thinking up creative ideas and solutions to problems and collaborating with others to advance and evolve ideas,” he says on his LinkedIn profile – which no doubt has set him up perfectly for the show!
