Kristy Sellars was crowned the winner of Australia’s Got Talent 2019 on Sunday night, taking out the $100,000 prize-money.
After eight weeks of watching Australia’s most talented amateur singers, dancers, magicians and more compete for the title, Kristy won out in a thrilling grand finale.
Judges Nicole Scherzinger, Shane Jacobson, Manu Feildel and Lucy Durack whittled down the nine finalists to a group of four, with the vote then opening up to the public.
Singer Jennifer Anderson, singer Olina Loau and dancer Sienna Osborne joined Kristy in the all-female top four, before the live voting began.
In the end, Kristy, a Melbourne mum of three, was victorious after wowing viewers with an incredible pole performance to set to Unsteady by X Ambassadors.
“You bring power and depth and meaning to pole dancing,” judge Nicole told Kristy after her performance.
“Your art is amazing,” Manu added. “You just represent every woman on this planet, your strength is amazing.”
Kristy reveals she’s so excited to have shared the power of her art with the Australian public.
“I’ve had so many messages from people saying I’ve changed the way they view pole performance,” Kristy tells TV WEEK.
Kristy reveals she plans to put the prize money towards creating more shows for people to enjoy.
“I love the faces of kids and adults when they watch these performances,” she says. “Seeing them become completely immersed in another world where they can imagine and dream and be young again. I think we need more of this in the day and age we live in.”
Congratulations to the winner! We can’t wait to see what she does next.
