Australians can’t tear their eyes away from the newest season of Married At First Sight, and even former TV icon Ash Pollard has a few things to say about the show’s return.

Though the 36-year-old confessed on Tuesday night that she had been “so anti-MAFS” for years, she couldn’t resist tuning in to meet the new brides and grooms.

Sharing her thoughts on the season’s second episode on her Instagram Stories, it’s safe to say Ash wasn’t totally on-board with all the couples.

“I’m watching Selin get fed by this bloke who has not shaved his neck hair – the back of his neck hair,” she told her followers of groom Anthony, eyes glued to her TV.

“I’d be mortified if I got into bed with him on the first night of our marriage! He could have at least shaved it!”

The new mum-of-two then turned her attention to the couples who were getting ‘married’ in episode two; Domenica and Jack, and Ella and Mitch.

“Mitch and what’s-her-face [Ella] are talking at each other like they’re selecting chocolate off the shelf at the supermarket – it’s cringe!” Ash exclaimed, before re-sharing a post that suggested Ella was a “copy” of season six icon Martha Kalifatidis.

She also called Domenica’s Italian parents “legends” and said of the cast: “This whole show … there’s something about it where I don’t like someone, then I like them, then I don’t like them. I just flip-flop throughout the whole show!”

The former My Kitchen Rules star admitted that she avoided watching the show for years but had given in when the show’s eighth season aired last year.

That infamous season included bombshell moments like Bryce Ruthven telling on-screen wife (now real-world fiancée) Melissa Rawson that the other brides were “hotter” than her, so we can see why Ash couldn’t tear her eyes away.

As for her thoughts on season nine so far, Ash looked pretty entertained in the slips she shared to Instagram and even made a surprising prediction about the show.

“Blokes are going to get so used to kissing girls with filler in their lips that when they finally kiss a girl that doesn’t have filler in their lips they’re going to be like, ‘what the f—k is this?'” she said, before bursting into laughter.

Fans have been divided over the new season of MAFS, with some singing its praises on social media while other have accused the show of not delivering enough drama in the first episodes.

The first episode of season nine took out the top spot in the metro TV ratings, but fell short of previous season premieres, pulling in 869,000 viewers.

It’s a huge number, but the season eight premiere recorded 964,000 viewers, while season seven pulled in a whopping 1,154,000.

In fact, MAFS‘ latest season received the show’s lowest premiere ratings since 2017, but online streaming could make up for the gap.

According to Media Week, “An additional 157,000 people streamed MAFS on 9Now, for a total national audience of 1.315 million.”
