Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer of the 1986 classic teased fans on Twitter by posting a photo with his Maverick, Tom Cruise.
“Just got back from a weekend in New Orleans to see my old friend @TomCruise and discuss a little Top Gun 2,” Jerry captioned the photo.
Fans went into overdrive when Tom retweeted the snap to his 5.83 million followers further fueling speculation that a follow up flick is in development. And we all know Tom loves a sequel, given that he’s already stared in five Mission Impossible movies.
Rumours about another Top Gun have been doing the Tinseltown rounds since 2012, but it was only when Tom Cruise mentioned last year he’d “like to get back into those jets” that industry insiders began to wonder if there was some truth to the gossip.
