It’s the movie that showed us what our cats, dogs (and everything in between) get up to when we’re not at home. Now, The Secret Life of Pets is back with a star-studded sequel and even more hilarious insights to what our beloved animals are really getting up to behind closed doors.
The Secret Life of Pets 2 reunites young fans with some of their favourite characters, as Terrier Max (this time voiced by Patton Oswalt) and his ‘brother’ Duke (Eric Stonestreet) find themselves becoming big brothers to an actual human.
Former gang leader Snowball (Kevin Hart) is back, too, and this time he’s off the streets and in the warm embrace of his doting owner… who likes to kit him out in superhero gear.
Armed with the right outfit, the fluffy bunny is calling himself Captain Snowball and is teaming up with a cute new friend, a Shih Tzu named Daisy (Tiffany Haddish), to fight crime.
We caught up with the stars at the Sydney premiere, where they spilled on what they love about their characters.
“My favourite thing about my character is his personality, I love the fact that he’s a little complicated,” Kevin told TV WEEK at the premiere of the animated sequel.
“He’s manic, he’s insecure, he’s loving, and he has a great heart. So all the things that you need to basically have a well-grounded individual in a movie, Snowball has.”
Meanwhile, Tiffany says her favourite thing about newcomer Daisy is that she has “a lot of heart” and “that she cares for others.”
WATCH: Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish star in The Secret Life Of Pets 2. Story continues after video…
The Secret Life of Pets 2 is Kevin and Tiffany’s second major film together, though their history extends even further beyond their first movie Night School.
As the now-famous story goes, Kevin gave Tiffany $300 when she was homeless and living in her car many years ago. Now, their bond is closer than ever as they promote their latest flick.
“You know me and Tiffany have a great relationship,” Kevin tells TV WEEK.
“I’ve known her for years. I think for me the best thing is progression, just seeing a person go from Point A to Point B, to C, to D. To just continue to grow.”
“My favourite thing about Kevin is that he makes me laugh, we enjoy each other,” says Tiffany, adding with a chuckle, “and he knows when I’m in a bad mood!”
The Secret Life Of Pets 2 is in cinemas June 7.
