We are beside ourselves with excitement to see the Aussie hunk join the female-led cast including Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig in the hotly-anticipated remake.
The director of the new film, Paul Feig, took to twitter to announce Chris will be playing the receptionist.
“Our receptionist. #whoyougonnacall,” the director tweeted alongside a snap of the handsome father-of-three.
The Thor actor is in good company as he joins the likes of funny ladies Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon in the female lead re-imagination of the cult classic.
Paul Feig recently told The Huffington Post that the leading ladies in the new flick had to be completely different to the old cast.
“I knew I needed four people who were very different and yet would be funny together,” he said, before adding: “I kind of cast it in my head and contacted them, and they all wanted to do it.”
As expected, every time there’s a remake of classic film, the internet piped up with some backlash, the director also addressed those concerns saying: “The Internet is really funny – I love it, but I hate it at the same time.”
By the time the new installment hits cinemas in July 2016, it will have been 32 years since the original, starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, was released in 1984 and we think Chris Hemsworth is the perfect man for the job.
