While watching Anyone But You, you might recognise some iconic Australian locations.
Featuring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, among many other big names and Australian actors, the brand-new romantic comedy is based on Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare. But where were the scenes filmed?
Anyone But You is about two people who hate each other, winding up at the same wedding on the other side of the world.
According to a synopsis by Sony, “Bea (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben (Glen Powell) look like the perfect couple, but after an amazing first date something happens that turns their fiery hot attraction ice cold — until they find themselves unexpectedly thrust together at a destination wedding in Australia. So they do what any two mature adults would do: pretend to be a couple.”
Thanks to the trailer and released set photos, we can see where Anyone But You was filmed in Sydney.
In the trailer, Sydney and Glen are seen on a boat in Sydney Harbour, with the Sydney Opera House in the background. There was also a photo released during filming which showed the two actors embracing in a passionate kiss on the steps of the Opera House.
The trailer also features a scene that looks like it could have potentially been filmed in the Royal National Park, as well as a scene on a yacht that was confirmed to have been filmed around Pittwater.
In the movie, Bondi Beach and Palm Beach are also featured along with Barangaroo, Double Bay and Surry Hills.
Sony also confirmed to ELLE Australia that filming took place around the Harbour Bridge, the Queen Victoria Building (QVB), and Marks Park in Tamarama.
Anyone But You also features a pretty star-studded cast, with Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell being accompanied by Dermot Mulroney, Michelle Hurd, Alexandra Shipp and Darren Barnet, as well as Aussies Rachel Griffiths, Bryan Brown, Nat Buchanan, Joe Davidson and Charlee Fraser.
Anyone But You will be released in cinemas in Australia on 26 December, 2023.
