“Coming off a flop album and his biggest hit’s dwindling popularity, ageing rock star John Allman (Connick) decides to take a break from his career to reclaim his spark,” the synopsis of Find Me Falling reads.

John then moves to an “isolated cliffside home” on the stunning Mediterranean island of Cyprus.

“His dream of keeping a low profile is derailed when he is routinely confronted by desperate souls and later faced with even more complicated surprises when an old flame reignites.”

Speaking of the movie, Harry Connick Jr. told PEOPLE that Find Me Falling “is just about a guy who realises what’s important in life.”

“He has to go very far away to figure that out, but he comes around realising that the things that are the closest to him are the most important,” he added.

Writer and director Stelana Kliris commented on the choice to cast Connick, claiming he “knows the world of [his] character better than most” as “an iconic musician and actor … even though he was playing against type as a brooding rock star.”

“I wanted someone who could bring depth to the role, but who could also take our breath away when he sang on screen, and Harry delivered on all fronts,” Kliris added.

The cast of Find Me Falling also includes the likes of Agni Scott, Ali Fumiko Whitney, Tony Demetriou, Aggeliki Filippidou, Lea Maleni, Athina Roditou, and Clarence Smith.

Agni Scott, who plays his love interest, spoke about her off-screen relationship with her co-star in Connick.

“Harry and I only managed a chat a couple of days before our first scene together. But he is such a kind, open and generous person that he made everything seem really easy and effortless.”

Harry Connick Jr. said he hopes that the film inspires audiences to think about their priorities in life, and how they can appreciate those close to them.

“I think at certain points in our lives we kind of question what we’re doing and what’s going on.”

“And I think it’s just a reminder [of] the things that are the closest to you or sometimes the things that you maybe don’t appreciate or don’t see as clearly as you should,” he told PEOPLE.

Director Kliris also said that Find Me Falling is a good reminder “that your legacy does not necessarily lie in your art or your children, but rather in how you made people feel; that there is value in connecting with people and, of course, that it’s never too late for love.”
