The double Ds on The Block have won this week’s room reveal.

Darren and Deanne Jolly wowed the judges with their contemporary and sophisticated bedroom and study spaces, which they topped off with their signature style.

In fact, the married couple from Melbourne proved they have what it takes to win the series, with all three judges – Darren Palmer, Shaynna Blaze and Neale Whitaker – agreeing they have a “unique” eye for design never before seen on The Block.

The couple’s victory comes just days after they came under fire following a clash with laid-back larrikins Simon and Shannon Vos.

To make matters worse, Deanne, 42, has been labelled the contestant everyone loves to hate. According to a series insider, the mother-of-three has been caught out “whingeing about everything and is driving everyone mad”.

Darren and Deanne

The double Ds have won this week’s room reveal – and their secret weapon was the luxurious canopy over the bed. Shaynna particularly liked the layering, shapes and textures used in the room and claimed it really showcased the pair’s strengths. “The bed is perfectly styled,” she said.

First impressions on entering the room were that all three judges loved the parquetry flooring in the study. They described it as a “contemporary and sophisticated space which screams quality” and complimented the couple’s signature style. “They have found a style that’s quite unique on the block,” Neale said.

Michael and Carlene

The exposed brick in the guest bedroom was a brilliant concept and all three judges loved the brass pendant lights. They said the couple’s styling was “very on-trend and the room had a very urban feel to it”.

The layout of the study also received high praise from the experts, who agreed the Duffys’ styling this week was spot on. They particularly adored the pendant lights and the day bed in the room.

Shannon and Simon

This week, the Vos brothers created a 1970s-style bedroom – and it proved to be a hit with the judges. Not only did they admire the sense of balance and storage in the room. They raved about the room’s architectural elements, saying it was “very clever”. “These boys will be the bedroom kings,” Neale said.

When walking into the study, the first thing Darren noticed was the amazing ceiling heights and design features. The judges thought the study area was well done and that it felt cosy and functional but not claustrophobic. Score: 27/30

Max and Karstan

Newcastle’s Barbie and Ken, aka Maxine Stokes and Karstan Smith, went for the whole less-is-more vibe this week – and managed to deliver a high-end, contemporary room. The judges were definitely impressed with the couple’s polished concrete floors, but did have a few issues with the styling of the space.

Darren thought the study was “sexy” but Neale felt it was a little dated. As for Shaynna, she loved the storage space they created. All agreed the artwork in the bedroom was gorgeous, but they’re worried Max and Karstan are being “too blank” and think this would be a room for the pair to revisit down the track.

Score: 21/30

Jenna and Chris

While Jenna and Chris Susetio got off to the perfect start this week, it didn’t work in their favour. They created a large space but the judges thought it felt “quite squeezed” and said it lacked the sophistication of their winning bathroom last week. Neale commented that he couldn’t believe it was the same couple.

All three judges agreed the duo’s choice of shelving was “ugly” and the potting bench at the end of the bed was “inappropriate”. Jenna and Chris’s decision to ditch the office space in opt for an attic was also questioned by Darren.
