Thursday night’s episode of the Bachelorette Australia was all about old-school romance.
From a swing dancing lesson that saw Matty’s connection with Georgia soar, to a kooky speed date with a bunch of pensioners.
While handsome Lee’s older double made an excellent first impression with a slew of classic dad or rather, grandpa jokes, Clancy’s senior stand-in was forced to go rogue after the awkwardness of the encounter took over his ability to turn on the charm.
As a result of his on-air freeze, the 29-year-old failed to further his connection with journalist, and come the nail-biting rose ceremony, was sent packing by a tearful Georgia.
Woman’s Day caught up with the dapper blonde to debrief on his time in the mansion – read on for his telling interview!
CLANCY, 29, Medical Sales Rep
How do you feel about Georgia?
She’s a really good girl and we always had a great time together. Even though I’m not pursuing a relationship with her anymore, I still think we’ve got enough of a friendship that we can have a good time when we catch up again.
Were you upset to leave the mansion before hometown dates?
Yeah I was a little bit disappointed, but I saw the writing on the wall and I think it was getting a bit more serious. Although I would have liked to stay I think it was the right time for me to have left.
Why did you decide to go on The Bachelorette?
I am looking for a partner and I’m ready for that next stage in my life, and I figured that at the very least I would meet some good friends with the best possible scenario being that I meet the girl of my dreams.
What was the biggest highlight of your experience?
I think the whole experience was just amazing. Living in the house and getting to know the boys, I’ve made some really good friends for life out of it.
I mean Georgia’s great and everything but I think I’ll be catching up with the boys more than Georgia in the future.
Do you have any regrets in shaving your beard?
Not really! I think it was a good call giving her the option to get rid of it, and I wasn’t sure at that point whether to keep it or not coming in.
In recent episodes there’s been talk of guys being in the mansion for the wrong reasons, so on that note, what kind of things did you see that maybe we didn’t?
I think what you guys didn’t see were a couple of guys, who on camera, would throw each other under the bus a bit more than what was shown. And these weren’t the guys who’ve been targeted on the show.
Everyone went about it in the wrong way, but I think as long as Georgia is aware of people’s career or media aspirations, she can make her own mind up.
In your last group date with Georgia, you seemed to be holding back. Can you talk us through that day?
Throughout my time on the show, the cameras never bothered me; I never really took much notice of them and whenever I had a chat to Georgia it was always very natural.
But in that situation there was a camera directly in my face, I was looking at a monitor, I had headphones on, I was looking at Georgia through a screen, and it just felt really awkward. I just struggled.

With such loud personalities in the mansion, did you feel like there was a pressure to perform?
The only situation I felt that in was the group dates. The dynamic on group dates is so weird and I never got comfortable enough to talk to Georgia in a group setting.
When you think about it, everyone’s trying to tune the same woman and everyone’s trying to get their voice heard. So when guys were hounding her, I just thought, ‘I’m not gonna get involved in that!’
Have you found love since the show ended for you?
After my public dumping last night I’m keeping my personal life to myself.
Who do you think will win Georgia’s heart?
My two best mates were Matty and Jake so I think that those guys are in with a pretty red hot go at getting it!
