Sylvia Jeffreys to replace Georgie Garnder on the Today show

After much speculation, popular Channel Nine reporter Sylvia Jeffreys has been announced as Georgie Gardner’s replacement on the Today show.

The news was made during Georgie’s emotional sign off show this morning which was packed with surprises and well-wishes from viewers and her long-time colleagues.

Sylvia, who started with her career with the Nine Network in 2005, is no stranger to households across Australia. The 29-year-old has been presenting weekend weather and breaking news for some time and has also contributed to other programs across the network.

A teary-eyed Georgie, 48, announced she was leaving the breakfast program after seven years earlier this month.

“I make this decision with a very heavy heart because you are my family. But I feel that I actually need to get back to my own family now. I’m not leaving the Nine Network, I’ll still be around. It’s been amazing,” she said on air.

“I’m very grateful to the network for allowing me to put my family first.”

Georgie will continue to contribute to the Nine news team.
