Brothers Shannon and Simon are the winners of The Block Glasshouse!
The Painter, 35 and Plumber, 28 from Tasmania took out the renovating competition beating Michael and Carlene (Apartment 1), Chris and Jenna (2), Maxine and Karstan and Darren and Deanne (5).
The end result saw the duo take home $335,000 profit, after their luxury apartment sold for $1,900,000.
The pair took home the $100,000 first prize — on top of the profit they made over reserve. A win the pair called “bittersweet” after their fellow contestants failed to make an impressive profit.
Runners up Chris and Jenna kicked off the auction meeting the reserve price at $1,500,000. After a slow start, the couple got the auctions up and running, making a profit of $310,000 with their apartment selling for $1,810,000.
However, the celebrations soon came to an abrupt end.
Maxine and Karstan, who got married on The Block, needed to beat their reserve of $1,670,000 to make a profit on their apartment. The pair unfortunately made just $40,000 on their apartment after it sold for $1,710,000 shocking everyone on The Block.
Dee and Darren, the team dubbed the double D’s, were off to a confident start. The pair had a reserve price of $1,370,000. The pair was shocked when their apartment sold for $1,380,000, just $10,000 over the reserve. The couple was so shocked, they walked directly out of the auction without saying a word.
Michael and Charlene chose to go last at the auction with a reserve price of $1,380,000. The pair decided to go ahead with the auction after some deliberation, selling their apartment for $1,390,000 making a profit of $10,000.
A total of $805,000 was earned by all contestants on The Block Glasshouse after they turned a 3,540-square metre, 1980s-style office block in inner-city Melbourne, into five luxury apartments in just three months.
